About the Authors

Authors Daniel and Mary Ann Nusbaum wrote this book while living on their yacht in the Fiji Islands. Now back in Daniel's native Indiana, they are writing and speaking about their sailing adventures (see Blue Water Sailing, January 2007), scheduling book signings, and helping to raise four of their grandchildren.

Dr. Daniel, a retired neurologist and psychiatrist, first wrote this book in the 1970's during the time when movies like The Exorcist began to be popular. As a Christian and a father, he wanted more meaningful stories to be available.

After he married psychologist Mary Ann in 1999, the two of them began a series of revisions, culminating in a near rewrite aboard s/v Star Reach, their Irwin 46 ketch, while moored in Savu Savu, Fiji.
"With so many strange things happening in the world, we thought it best not to delay this book any further," Daniel says. "We had not meant it to sound like a review of current events: what used to be fantastic now seems ordinary."
